Abstract

Halal regulation in Indonesia has been extended to include food and products related to the body, such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and personal care items, ensuring that they adhere to halal standards. Although obtaining a halal certificate is essential, many industries face significant challenges in fully implementing this regulation despite their efforts. Ensuring halal integrity requires robust traceability. Our study uses a semi-systematic literature review to identify key themes and gaps in the research related to the topic in a top-level field. This study proposes a research framework to identify the antecedents of halal implementation. The proposed framework draws on institutional theory and resource-based views. The primary proposition is that a combination of external pressure and organizational capability is crucial in implementing a halal traceability system.
