Abstract

The proliferation of Social Networking Services (SNS) has highlighted the need of providing reliable but efficient mechanism to report information from mobile users to the data center. In this paper, a mechanism to reduce periodic update of position and sensor data for activities recognition from mobile device is proposed. To improve the reporting mechanism, variance analysis from sensor data captured in sliding windows is applied. A prototype of SNS application has been developed with services of tracking systems that also still consider level or relationships among users to maintain the privacy of users. The improved reporting protocol using the proposed approach has also been integrated the prototype of SNS. Finally, experiments to verify the performances of the proposed approach in term of accuracy of change detection, bandwidth and energy saving efficiency have been conducted with promising results.
