Abstract

Plastic waste has become one of the critical environmental issues for all people on earth. Therefore, how to overcome that problem is become a highly demanding effort. In this research, we discuss about the recycling process of plastic waste using a simple method named hot press method. The plastic waste resources used are LOPE, PET, Melamine, and Bakelite. The outcome of this research is a paving block that expected to be complied to the National Standard of Indonesia. Sequence analysis addressed to the specimen are including SEM, FTIR, density test, compression test, and water absorbability test. The highest compression stress of the specimen is 24.13 Mpa for 15%wt of bakelite addition. The lightest density of the specimen is 1.0042 gram/cm3 that attributed to the specimen with 15%wt of bakelite addition. The resulted paving block in this research can be categorized as B type based on SNI 03-0691-1996 and SNI 03-3449-2002 standard.
