N2 - This study conducts a systematic literature review to identify critical emotional intelligence (EI) competencies that contribute to the success of IT investment decision making. Utilizing reputable academic databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar, a total of 391 articles were reviewed. Following the rigorous guidelines outlined in the PRISMA flow diagram, 33 articles were identified as relevant to the research objectives. This research determines key characteristics of IT investment, as well as critical EI competencies and key contributions of EI in IT investment decision making. These findings are then analyzed to determine the critical EI competencies for successful IT investment decision making, aligning with IT investment characteristics, and to develop a conceptual framework linking critical EI competencies and successful IT investment. The results identify EI as a highly important competency that supports successful IT investment decision making.
