N2 - Production of sugarcane needs to be increased to respond to the continuously growing demand. In addition to solving the basic problems in sugarcane production such as seeding, planting, care, fertilizing, and harvesting, innovation in information and communication technology (ICT) needs to be carried out to realize a farm management information system (FMIS). This paper proposes a design of ICT platform for sugarcane harvesting operations to support operations and decisions by the management. The platform is composed of four layers i.e. source collection, big data, operation management & knowledge model, and presentation. It is designed based on the sugarcane farm operated in Sumatera, Indonesia. Some key variables regarding the operation are recorded and saved in a database. Production report and Big Data Analytics are carried out to improve the sugarcane harvesting operation. Examples of the big data logger view and the FMIS daily operation report view are presented. Further in-depth research on several aspects is necessary including the robustness of telecommunication, the security of data communication, climate effect on the hardware implementation, authorization, integration, and performance measurement.
