N2 - The coastal area of Batupoaro Sub-district is a strategic location but vulnerable to sea waves and abrasion. In early 2022, high waves hit the coast of Baubau City, including the Batupoaro coast. The waves have caused damage to infrastructure at several points of the coast and have even caused impacts on the people who live around the coast. This research is dedicated to examining abrasion hazard for disaster mitigation, with the aim of analyzing the condition of the coastal area and the level of abrasion hazard on the Batupuaro coast using qualitative descriptive analysis and abrasion hazard index analysis. The results showed that social conditions on the coast of Batupoaro are fishing activities, seaweed cultivation, tourism, public spaces, and transactional activities. While the physical condition is that there are several coastal protection buildings damaged by sea waves, then in several other locations abrasion has occurred, especially in segments that do not have coastal protection. Then in the results of the analysis of the level of abrasion hazard for each segment in the Batupoaro coastal area, all of them are categorized as high, this result is obtained from the assessment of abrasion hazard based on five parameters such as wave height, current speed, vegetation density, beach profile, and beach typology.
