Abstract

The usage of fossil fuels will be minimizing. The fossil fuel source in Indonesia is theoretically can be used not more than 30 years. In addition, the combustion of fossil fuels has been caused the emissions in the world. Biogas is a renewable energy source because it is derived from organic materials result from cow waste which fermented by anaerobic bacteria. The source of biogas energy is derived from cow waste such as in this research. This research has been assessed using cow waste as a source of biogas energy for engine of electric power plant in the Bawean Island, Gresik, East Java, Indonesia. In this research has been used the primary data collection methods such as the number of cow populations and number of houses in Bawean Island. Then the data has been calculated and analyzed. The analysis is based on the availability of biogas from cow waste, the biogas energy for the purposes of an engine power plant in Bawean Island and the design of engine which capable to generate electricity using biogas as a fuel source.
