Abstract

The amount of information about COVID-19 on social media influences a person's behavior. This study tried to analyze the role of social media use and emotions in risk perception and prevention behavior related to COVID-19. This study uses SEM to analyze the proposed research model, namely the Preventive Behavior Model. A total of 391 data were collected. The results showed that anxiety about social security, prediction of the spread of COVID-19, and increased exposure to COVID-19 information on social media have a positive effect on preventive behavior both directly and through negative emotions. This research provides advice as a form of awareness in maintaining preventive behavior so that the risk of transmission of COVID-19 can be suppressed.
