Automatic Drying Roof with Short Messages (SMS) using a Microcontroller Module

Abstract

The drying process must be monitored when weather conditions are uncertain. A sudden downpour can cause the clothesline to get wet again. It wastes time and energy because the drying process must be repeated from the beginning. This project is about the design and realization of an automatic roof device that protects the clothesline from rainwater and supports the drying process so that the laundry can dry on time. Raindrop sensors and LDR sensors are used to capture weather conditions during the drying process. The results of the sensor measurements would cause the motor gearbox to open or close the roof, which is connected to the L298N Motor Driver Module. The fan turns on when the roof is closed, and DHT 21 measures the room temperature and humidity. When the sensor readings detect the drying of items, the GSM module sends an SMS notification to the owner of the clothesline. The readings from the inputs of the sensors are processed by the Arduino Uno microcontroller module and displayed on the LCD. The result of this project system is that the device can work automatically to protect the clothesline from raindrops with a success rate of 95% and a success rate of 77.77% in the sensory measurement according to the condition of the clothesline's humidity.
