Abstract

In this research, catalysts MgF2, Fe2O3 and Mg1-xFexF2 (x=0.025; 0.050; 0.100 and 0.150?mol) were applied in the synthesis of vitamin E. Preparation of the catalysts by sol gel method. The structure of catalysts was characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), the acidity test was determined by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR)-pyridine, and the specific surface area was examined by nitrogen adsorption. Fe doped in MgF2 (Mg1-xFexF2) has similar structure as MgF2 and also has the same acidity as indicated by the presence of Lewis and Br?nsted acid sites. The results showed that the highest activity was obtained on the MgF2 catalyst, while the highest selectivity for vitamin E was obtained from the catalyst Mg0.85Fe0.15F2 that was 79.36%.
