Abstract
The effect of alkali, silane, and combined treatments has been evaluated to enhance the mechanical and thermal properties of ramie yarn fiber. The fibers were treated with 5 % sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and 3-(Aminopropyl) trimethoxy silane (APTES) at 1 % and 3 % concentrations. Combined treatments enhanced fiber hydrophobicity, achieving a contact angle of 80.02°, and XRD analysis confirmed crystallinity increased to 96,26 % and interfacial shear strength improved to 5.05 MPa, contributing to stiffer and more durable. FTIR analysis revealed the effectiveness of this treatment in breaking lignin and hemicellulose bonds, demonstrating ramie potential for sustainable reinforcement in material composite filament 3D printing.
