N2 - Gas accumulator is needed for peaks shaving in city gas transmission systems. In general, a gas accumulator is placed on the land, and this method is well known and well established. However, in a populated area such as Tokyo, where land space is limited and human safety becomes crucial issue, burying the gas accumulator in the land is one most preferred method. To satisfy the requirements, a high aspect ratio gas accumulator (capsule type) is proposed instead of sphere type due to its simplicity in burial technique. Drill the land, put the gas accumulator in, and burry it. In this research, the charge-discharge characteristics of high aspect ratio gas accumulator (length/diameter≒50) have been studied. Experiments were done with specified condition recommended by JGA (Japan Gas Association). Pressure and temperature at different point were measured and compared with the simulated results. Both data show good agreement.
