Abstract

The company’s business activities sometimes cause discomfort to the community and the surrounding environment. Therefore, corporate social responsibility (CSR) carried out by corporations is aimed at the surrounding society and environment as a form of compensation for its business activities. This paper presents the collaboration between CSR and community development (CD) activities in the process of reducing pollution produced by an industry. In the case of the Indonesian power plant in Probolinggo Regency, four steam power plant companies that use coal as fuels carry out CSR activities by approaching CDs to the three surrounding villages. Community surveys are conducted to see how CSR activities have an impact on pollution reduction. It is known that steam power plants have a polluting effect on soil, water and air. This study provides a quantitative description of people’s perceptions of CSR activities related to the environment for the various pollution generated by the power plant.
