N2 - Routing protocol selection affects video streaming performance over the network which includes delay, frame loss, and convergence time. Streaming services may optimize the performance of their streaming platform in application side. Although this method works well enough for the general use of the service, there is still another aspect of concern which is not under control of the streaming services such as network infrastructure. By optimizing the infrastructure side in the essence of network routing protocol, the streaming performance should increase when the best routing protocol is applied. Further analysis is required to find the most optimal routing protocol selection to provide better video streaming service. This study aims to provide data on three routing protocols capabilities, which are static routing, OSPF, and BGP, to better evaluate which routing protocols is best for video streaming scenario whether in TCP and UDP streaming. This study also provides data on convergence time for each routing protocols in failover scenario. It measures how much time it needs for video stream to continue its playback in failover scenario. Results show that BGP routing protocol has the best capability in delay, frame loss, and convergence time in small network scope. Therefore, BGP provides better Quality of Service (QoS) for both TCP and UDP video streaming.
