Abstract

A traffic management system is a system which aims to ease the work of traffic controller or transport authority by providing real time traffic information and insights into future traffic conditions either in short term, medium term or long term, as well as by providing traffic recommendation in order to achieve efficient use of transportation networks. As a side effect or possible further usage, the availability real time traffic information can be shared to road users so that they can use traffic information for their convenience in their journey. Several terms have been used in similar or related meanings, including Intelligent Transportation System, Intelligent transport systems, Intelligent Traffic Systems, RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Urban Traffic Systems, Urban Traffic Management, etc.
