Abstract
Objectively, a concert hall for Javanese gamelan performances must be able to accommodate the acoustic preference of musicians and audience, in accordance with their role in the show. For musicians, clarity of the sound ease communications and harmony can be maintained, while for the audience, in addition to the sound clarity, spatial impression caused by the presence of elements of space will give the impression of stereo effect in the room. The audience acoustic preference value is 69-78 dB for LL, 1.2 s - 1.6 s for Tsub, 40 ms for ITDG and 0.25 - 0.44 for IACC. The room design for the Javanese gamelan performances is fan-shaped, with 30 m as the farthest distance from the stage, 14000 m3 volume has a balcony 0.79 D/H value, 1500 audience capacity. Based on the acoustic design that was created, the simulation results showed that the distribution of the acoustic parameters are 74 to 79 dB for LL, 1.39 s ± 0.4 for Tsub, 4.59 ± 2.3 dB for C80, 64 ± 12% for D50, 1.29 for BR, 0.97 for TR, and 0.38 to 0.63 for IACC. Based on those parameters, the player would still able to distinguish the different sounds of different instruments, and maintaining the communication among the musicians and the harmony of the show. Based on those parameters, the strong impression ("gagah") of the show could still be felt. For the audience, in addition to strong impression, the impression of space through the stereo effect could still be perceived, based on the IACC value.
