Abstract
This research reviews the ship design of trash skimmer boat for picking-up river waste in Surabaya City, Indonesia, by using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material. HDPE material has been chosen because it is lightweight, strong, and has environmentally friendly material. The prediction of ship resistance using the Holtrop Method shows that the ship requires an effective power of 7.52 kW or 10.09 HP. The proposed main engine is the Yamaha type E25BMHL 25 HP, and the auxiliary engine is the SMART GENERATOR type SM4500-I 7.5 HP. Seakeeping analysis shows that the ship's motion response differs depending on the variation of speed and wave direction. An increase in speed results in an increase in motion response, while resonance occurs at higher encounter frequencies. The heaving and pitching resonances occur at the same encounter frequency in the bow quartering and beam sea wave directions, which is important to comprehend the ship's response under different operational conditions. The hull constructions have stress and deformation value below the permissible stress and deformation.
