Abstract

Motor vehicles in general are still much the rest of the energy is wasted when operated. One of wasted energy is the kinetic energy existing at the time of braking the vehicle. The more the vehicle is braking during running, the greater the potential kinetic energy that can be generated, so that the energy conservation system can be applied to these conditions. Currently there has been some hybrid vehicle system that can realize the energy conservation systems, one of which is the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS). KERS method widely used in car, while applications on two-wheel motor vehicles are still limited to the mechanical KERS that efficiency is still relatively low. So in this study will be discussed about the design and simulation of electrically KERS implemented on two-wheeled vehicles. The design of this KERS used in the form of an electric motor drive system to rotate the wheels with the transmission pulley and belt. The electric motor will automatically be changed into a generator when braking the vehicle. While the source of electrical energy is used to rotate the electric motor is derived from the engine speed is connected to the generator and the electrical energy stored in the battery. In this study generated out of the current value of 26.12 Ampere generators and voltage of 67.96 volts when the engine in the optimum state. The maximum electric current generated from braking is four times as big as 573 watts, 582 watts, 2300 watts and 593 watts. Voltage generated from the braking vehicle is worth fluctuate and be different according to the input given, so that the design of KERS this added voltage stabilizer that can help become more stable before it is stored in the battery.
