Distribution of Carbon Monoxide (CO) According to Industrial Area in West Java 2022

Abstract

Remote sensing can be used to monitoring air pollution. The Sentinel 5P satellite has a TROPOMI sensor specifically used to detect pollutant. The Sentinel-5P satellite can detect pollutants on a global scale. One type of pollutant that causes air pollution is Carbon Monoxide (CO). Carbon monoxide comes from incomplete combustion of fuel and organic compounds. The increase in air pollution continues to increase in line with industrial development and the increasing number of motorized vehicles. West Java Province is a province with a large number of industries 20 industrial area. The largest number of industries are in Sumedang, Purwakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, Karawang. The distribution of CO in West Java can be done by processing Sentinel 5P data using Google Earth Engine. In the processing process, the median function is used because it can reduce outlier values in the image. The data used is median monthly CO data in 2022. High CO concentrations are in the northern region of West Java, this is influenced by the presence of industrial areas. The highest CO value was in Bekasi City with a value of 0.047 mol/m2and the lowest value was in South Garut and Garut with a value of 0.023 mol/m2. The Marunda Center Industrial Area has the highest CO value of 0.041 mol/m2which is the petrochemical industry.
