Abstract
In this study the effect of void shape on electric field distribution in polymeric insulator was investigated. Three kinds of void shapes, sphere, cube, and cuboid, are simulated by using a finite element method based application program. Furthermore, the size of void was also varied in order to investigate the charge behavior inside the voids. The results show that each void under investigation has a unique electric field distribution and the highest magnitude of electric field was observed on cube void shape. The change of void size clearly shows that charge distribution affected local field distribution inside the void.
