Abstract

Software quality plays an important role in making sure information systems are sustainable, reliable, and easy to maintain. When software is high quality, it can adapt to changes, is simple to update, and stays user-friendly over time. This study looks at ways to evaluate and improve the Academic Information System Assessment Module using the ISO/IEC 25023 framework, which offers standard metrics for measuring software quality. The analysis focuses on two main characteristics: Usability and Maintainability, since these are important for user satisfaction and keeping the system running well in the long term. To achieve this objective, two alternative implementations of the module were developed using enterprise design patterns, namely Row Data Gateway, Table Data Gateway and compared to the existing system. The results indicate that the Usability aspect remains stable across all implementations, with no significant variation in sub-metric values. In contrast, the Maintainability aspect demonstrates a notable improvement, particularly in Modularity and Reusability. The RDG-based implementation increases the MMo-1-G metric from 0.68 to 1.00, while the TDG-based implementation raises the MRe-1-G metric from 0.70 to 1.00. The results show that using enterprise design patterns can improve the internal quality of software by making it better structured, more modular, and easier to reuse, while not changing how users experience the software. This study highlights how important architectural choices are for software quality and offers practical evidence to help developers and maintainers build sustainable academic information systems.
