Abstract

The characteristics of the environment in which a communication system is applied must be recognized first, since these characteristics are paramount to the design of a communication system. This paper aims to describe the characteristic of ambient noise as a result of measurement on a real tank towing. The time-domain analysis shows that the probability density function (pdf) of environmental noise approaches the Gaussian distribution with a mean of 6.1792 x 10-6 Volt, and a standard deviation of 0.0019. In the frequency domain, the analysis shows that the spectrum in the frequency range 4 kHz ~ 20 kHz is generally flat and more likely to be white. Simulation results prove that OFDM-time reversal communication has superior performance compared to conventional OFDM in AWGN channel. The BER value reaches 0.0005 when SNR is 20 dB.
