Abstract

Wind energy is a renewable energy that available almost anywhere. It has potential application especially for power generation. This experimental compared wind turbine with blade winglets and no winglets to know the better performance. The performance of wind turbine can be shown by value of coefficient of performance influenced by their winglet angle. The wind turbine used Clark-Y airfoil considering it has good ratio of lift coefficient and drag coefficient. The chord was design used Schimtz distribution to give proper force distribution along the blade. The twist angle along the blade was set as well to give maximum lift coefficient on each segment due to relative velocity. The twist distribution was calculated to prevent the blade experiences the stall phenomena.
