Abstract

Deaths caused by cervical cancer in the world continue to increase. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) released data on deaths from cervical cancer in 2008 as many as 275,000 and increased in 2018 to reach 311,365 people. There are four classifications of cervical cancer types based on the level of the stage, ranging from stage I to stage IV. The death rate for cervical cancer sufferers is likely to be influenced by the high or low stages of cancer. This paper aimed to assess factors that probably affect this stage while accommodating the indirect effects through confounding variables that could appear as well. The cervical cancer data from Dr. Soetomo Hospital are used as the application. Two primary results are revealed in this paper. First, age and duration of stay in the hospital are the significant covariates that affect the stage of cancer. Second, there is no prospective confounding variable involved in this data.
