Abstract

The usage of bimetalBimetal of steel and aluminium in a patrol vesselPatrol vessel structure specially between the main deck and the superstructure has become a common method. But sometimes during the construction process, the coating preparation is not well conducted which results in galvanic corrosion due to the difference of steel and aluminium. This might shorten the lifetime of the vessel where this paper tries to analyzeAnalyze. The analysis of a corrodedCorrodedbimetalBimetal structure is presented in this paper and compared to the structure without corrosion. The analysis of the corrodedCorroded part using the sonderberg method shows that the minimum fatigue lifeFatigue life range is 9.49 to 15 years which much shorter compared to the non-corrodedCorrodedbimetalBimetal.
