Abstract

The use of materials for small vessels in Indonesia is mostly made from FRP. In 2000 the use of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) was banned, a non-biodegradable material that can cause environmental problems. According to the problem of broadly small shipbuilding, search for materials of the same strength. In this paper, the hull is designed using High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material analysis focused on the midship structure using the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method. It is necessary to test the initial material as data verification on the material properties as input analysis for the evaluation test. The analysis of this study aims to show the strength of the HDPE boat structure used for small boat materials.
