Abstract

Wind power conversion system (WECS) is a conversion system from wind energy into electrical energy through wind turbines. The maximum energy point monitoring (MPPT) approach is needed in WECS in order that it could produce maximum power for each wind velocity. The fuzzy Logic-Sliding Mode Control (FL-SMC) algorithm is proposed as the MPPT method in this study because it is able to overcome the nonlinearity and uncertainty of wind velocity. The converter used is SEPIC which is able to work to increase and decrease the voltage with a non-inverting output. The purpose of this research is to apply FL-SMC based on SEPIC converter for MPPT on WECS under varying wind velocity conditions. The input of FL-SMC is in the form of a sliding surface and the first derivative of the sliding surface, while the output variable is the addition of a control signal. The result of FL-SMC exposure to WECS was a 83.78 percent increase in power at a wind velocity of 9 m/s.
