Abstract

The resilience of historic buildings is a concept to maintain their historic values and remain relevant to today's context. A relevant historic building depends on the relationship and interaction between human as users and the building. These can be assessed based on the concept of place attachment which is influenced by the physical form of interior-architecture features that represent value, information, and meaning of the building. Place attachment is evaluated from the aspect of place identity and place affect to know the visitor's perception of historic buildings. This research aims to examine how interior-architecture features supporting the resilience of historic building through the place attachment. The case study object is Bondowoso Railway Museum, which is related to the historical event named "Peristiwa Gerbong Maut"in 1947. This research uses quantitative methods with data collection techniques including literature studies, observations, and questionnaires to obtain place attachment variables and interior-architecture features that support the resilience of Bondowoso Railway Museum. This research found that the interior-architecture features, such as walls, columns, floors, and ceilings that are still maintained has been supporting the resilient of the Bondowoso Railway Museum Building because it has characteristics that represent Bondowoso and its historical event.
