Abstract
This research investigates the relationship between smart manufacturing projects and process quality improvement through a literature review. The manufacturing industry has undergone a significant transformation, driven by digital technologies and the concept of Industry 4.0. Smart manufacturing is a key driver of this transformation, integrating advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize production processes, increase efficiency, and enhance product quality. The methodology employed in this systematic literature review includes planning and review steps, focusing on article search methodology, selection criteria, and data extraction. The findings suggest that smart manufacturing technologies significantly improve process quality through real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making. However, challenges such as legacy system integration, cybersecurity risks, workforce upskilling, and organizational barriers must be overcome to fully harness the potential of smart manufacturing. Ongoing research is essential to explore strategies for overcoming these challenges and maximizing the benefits of smart manufacturing across various industrial sectors.
