Abstract

—The Fourth Industrial Revolution has driven innovation in remote control systems through IoT technology. One potential development is the wireless, long-distance charging of prepaid electricity tokens. Currently, prepaid electricity meters still require physical and manual token input, thus necessitating a better solution. In this research, an IoT based electricity token filling tool using 2-axis gantry system was created to allow users to remotely and wirelessly input electricity tokens into prepaid meters via an internet connection. The token charging device is built with a plastic frame fabricated using a 3D printer, making it adaptable to various prepaid electricity meters. It utilizes a 2-axis gantry movement system driven by motors to operate the keypad pressing mechanism, and is controlled by an ESP-32 microcontroller accessible through a web-based control panel. The device has been tested and demonstrated a 90% success rate after proper setup and calibration. This tool is expected to offer a practical solution for prepaid electricity token input for the broader public.
