N2 - Researchers conducted a literature review on lean manufacturing, six sigma and lean six sigma to increase profits and productivity. The papers reviewed were papers published with a time frame of 1990 to 2022, selected from Emerald, ProQuest, and Wiley. The amount of publications search resulting about 1937 articles which were then filtered into 66 papers is not very extensive and it is somewhat dispersed. Thus, the main objective of this article is to collect and perform an analysis of the most recent literature about lean six sigma. Process improvement, defects & costs reduction have been the focus in several studies. On the other hand, quality improvement is not being researched quite intensively. The implementation of lean six sigma on food and construction sectors have been carried out, however there are still few on textiles and then automotive. Several studies show that there is an increase in waste management such as reducing defects, reducing machine breakdowns and eliminating root causes of problems. The success factors of lean six sigma are influenced by leadership, education, human resource management, and also supplier partnerships. However, the government does not have a big influence on the success of the implementation of lean six sigma.
