Abstract

Mass transported DFB lasers emitting at lambda equals 1. 53 mu m have been developed. The laser performance is comparable to the state-of-the-art of conventionally fabricated DFB lasers. No degradation can be observed after 1580h aging at 5mw cw output power. By introduction of a phase adjusting groove the degeneracy of the lowest threshold gain mode has been avoided and lasing at the Bragg wavelength was made possible.
