Abstract

This research deals with calculating drag coefficient on a circular cylinder numerically by SIMPLE algorithm. In order to reduce drag coefficient, three passive controls are used. It is a smaller object than a circular cylinder used as the main object. Circular, elliptical and type-I cylinder are kind of shape used as passive control. A passive control in front of the main object is type-I cylinder while two passive controls in rear are various with same shape. An angle is formed because of the existence of two passive controls in rear. The passive control distance to the main object is various. Mathematical model is developed from modified Lagrange polynomial to obtain the effective shape, angle and distance of the passive control.
