Abstract

This paper proposed an alternative approach to obtain the setting of overcurrent relay (OCR) that commonly used in the electrical protection system. Unlike the existing research, this method will consider a real electrical system as a study basis. In a real system, bus or feeder voltage level sometimes is different due to the equipment needs. This voltage level is bridged by a transformer that could be an insulation in the protection scheme. The insulation scheme allows the OCR to be reset to the minimum delay time that makes it unable to solve in parallel computation. Consequently, this method offers a serial computation and work together with the modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) with the intention to have the easiest way to set the OCR in a real system.
