Abstract
A method to calculate the natural vibration of the trapezoidal stiffened plate which is often seen in the ship stern structure is proposed. The calculated results were compared with the experimental results, and good agreement can be seen between them. Furthermore, the vibration characteristics of the trapezoidal stiffened plate is investigated, and a method to determine the dimensions of the rectangular stiffened plate of which the natural frequency is equal to that of the trapezoidal stiffened plate is also proposed.
