Abstract
Hybrid power system considering renewable energy sources is an attempt to reduce the fuel oil consumption during ship's operation which relied on diesel generator. Photovoltaic (PV) is selected as solar energy is abundant in Indonesia while wind energy has higher potential on ship compared on ground as the received wind speed is higher due to the ship movement. Three design scenarios are evaluated within this research. The difference of each scenario is the size of the renewable energy sources based on the available space on the deck. The first scenario involves installing 40 panels without wind turbine. The second scenario is maximizing all the allocated space to 2 wind turbines, while the last scenario is combining both. All the scenario doesn't consider the energy saving device as the patrol boat is designed to be operated during the day. The numerical analysis shows that the third scenario, with 36 PVs and 2 wind turbines, may save 11% of fuel consumption annually.
