Abstract

There are several methods that have been published to solve the Optimal Power Flow problem. Generally, the algorithm method is complex, such as in Particle Swarm Optimization. This paper proposes a simpler method, that is, Multi-Dimension of Coarse to Fine Search. The method will be applied to the feasible area that has been defined. A number of potential solutions or candidates are spread in the feasible area where the best candidate is determined. The best candidate indicates the smallest fuel cost. Furthermore, a smaller area is determined around the best candidate. The process is continued until there is a very small area, which the best candidate has been able to be stated as the convergent point. To validate the findings, the proposed method has been tested on the Java-Bali power system, 25 buses with 8 generator buses, and the results are compared to the results of Power World Software. The proposed method can give more satisfying results and meets the expectations.
