N2 - One of the problems that often occurs in electrical distribution systems is interference with the protection system, which requires good protection system coordination. To ensure that the overcurrent relay provides effective and efficient protection coordination, the Time Dial Setting (TDS) must be correctly set. In this paper, we aim to identify the optimal Time Dial Setting (TDS) value for overcurrent relays using the Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA). The method is implemented in MATLAB, and the results are simulated using ETAP software. The CSA will be compared with the Firefly Algorithm (FA) to evaluate its effectiveness. The results show that CSA is more effective and capable of achieving the best TDS coordination, providing more stable and reliable protection settings in the electrical distribution system.
