Abstract

Azoic dye photocatalytic degradation by photocatalytic oxidation using TiO2 semiconductor catalyst and UV light has been done to batik industrial waste at Pamekasan-Madura-Indonesia. Beside kinetic determination, the purpose of this study was to analyse optimum conditions of photocatalytic degradation of azoic dye in batik industrial waste water. Various concentration of H2O2, as the oxidizing agent, analyzed in this study were 3 mL (0.1%), 9 mL (0.3%) and 15 mL (0.5%) in a mixture of 1000 mL of dye waste. The results of the analysis showed that the degradation of azoic dye follows first pseudo-order with constant rate of reaction increases by increasing H2O2 concentration. The optimum condition of photocatalytic degradation of azoic dye in batik industrial wastewater was achieved at concentration of 0.5% H2O2 oxidizing agent.
