Abstract

Prior to the conversion of solar energy into electrical energy through photovoltaics, research is needed that produces a solar energy profile within a certain area, so that the determination of photovoltaic specifications will adjust the input energy to the required output electrical energy. Solar energy that can be generated for the entire mainland of Indonesia which has an area of ±2 million km2 is 5,108 MW. This study will be conducted to examine the potential of solar energy produced from solar power in Siman Village, Lamongan Regency. The method used is using the assessment of the sun's position and photovoltaic modeling. The exploration of the sun's position produces the angle of altitude and azimuth of the sun's position to obtain data in the form of maximum temperature and irradiance. These data are needed for photovoltaic modeling to be converted into electrical power. The results of the modeling modeling were then validated and solar energy calculations were carried out in Siman Village with photovoltaic modeling simulations. Solar energy that can be extracted into electrical energy is 2.2 kWatt.h. When compared with the daily electrical energy needs in the household sector (9364 watt.h), the electrical energy produced is able to meet 23.9% of electricity needs in a day.
