abstract = "Nowadays, the effectiveness and efficiently of human activity depended by the availability of electricity, with this condition the power system must be operated securely and economically optimal. To meet the hourly electrical fluctuate need on 24 hours, unit commitment (UC) could be used for generation scheduling (on/off) by considering generator constrains to get the most economical optimum power system operation. However, unit commitment operation couldn't scheduling generator unit considering the security of the transmission line as the system constrain. This paper discusses Security Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC) considering transmission capacity and power transmission loss with non-smooth generation cost function on IEEE 30 bus system. Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (BPSO) algorithm will be used to solve SCUC problem to get economically optimum and considering the transmission line security. The test result shows that BPSO method is able to solve and calculate SCUC problem considering transmission capacity and power transmission loss with non-smooth generation cost function with maintaining the constrains such as equality constrain, inequality constrain, minimum up and down time, ramp rate, and transmission line capacity.",
