Abstract
This paper aims to present and compare several popular models of current reference tracking strategies for single-phase grid-connected renewable power generation systems. The sinusoidal current control models discussed in this paper include conventional proportional-integral control, proportional-resonant control, hysteresis control, and d-q synchronous reference frame control. To ensure the injected sinusoidal current is in phase with the grid voltage, the synchronization technique also well known as the T/4 delay phase-locked loop (PLL) is employed in this work. For the performance evaluation, all of the current controllers are simulated under the Simulink-MATLAB environment. Based on simulation results, the current controlled with PI controller suffers from the steady-state error. For the relatively small magnitude of current reference, the Hysteresis control system seems to be superior to others, whereas, for the higher reference magnitude, the best performance is achieved by the d-q synchronous reference frame control and the PR control systems.
