Abstract

Culture has a value as national wealth and an ethical foundation in living a social life. Its uniqueness and diversity make it attractive to local and foreign tourists. With globalisation that contains so many foreign cultures, Indonesian culture starts to fade due to a lack of interest from the young generation. These become a reason to develop an application that can make Indonesian culture appear more interesting, handy, and easy to access. Similar services about culture are generally owned by countries with high cultural diversity such as Japan and India. Their app was developed with various content, language choices, and some kinds of interaction for users. This stuff has not been seen in applications from Indonesia. The application developed has improved on localization of string resources to provide text in English and Indonesian. Another improvement is about giving a chance for users to interact with each other through user posts. The development process begins with problem analysis and designing the system, which is followed by culture data creation and a dashboard to organize the data. After that, the API shows the data of the culture created so it can be used by the application. The process continues by developing an application with MVVM (Model-View-View model) architecture so the project has a good code separation and is easy to maintain. The application is reviewed for accessibility aspects through Google Play pre-launch report and interaction measurements are carried out by using a user engagement scale (UES) short form. To increase visibility, the application provides an online presence on social media. The application can display text information in English or Indonesian, provide a space for users to share their posts or stories and interact with others about culture, and it is developed with general accessibility consideration. With all those things combined, the application is expected to reach a wider target audience.
