Static and Dynamic Field Testing of 40 m I-girder Bridge in Teluk Lamong Area

Abstract

This study investigates static and dynamic field testing of a 40 m I-girder bridge in Teluk Lamong, East Java, Indonesia. Static loading was performed with two 50 tonne trucks, and bridge displacement was monitored at ¼, ½, and ¾ span using TML LVDT and BDI STS4-16 data logger. Dynamic load testing was conducted by running a truck at 20 km/h and bumping it using two-speed bumps located one meter apart. The bridge’s vibration was recorded using a low-cost ADXL345 tri-axis accelerometer, an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor connected wirelessly to a Raspberry Pi4. Velocity and displacement response over time were calculated by integrating the acceleration data. Polynomial-based normalization was employed to prevent integrated data from shifting. Results indicate that bridge displacement remained satisfactory during static loading. The bridge’s average natural frequency was 3.01 Hz, and the damping ratio was approximately 2.0% during dynamic load testing.
