Abstract

Mass measuring devices have been developed by various methods. In its design, gauge the mass of the object to be adjusted in good measure the reach and shape. This corresponds to a sensitivity that can be generated by the mass measurement. One of the transducers for the measurement of mass that can detect small mass changes are the strain gage. In the making mass sensor using a strain gage type uniaxial with 120 ohm resistance and cantilever beam with a length of 2 cm, width 1 cm, thickness of 20μm that utilizes the deflection of the beam surface. The existence of deflection caused by the addition of mass at one end of the beam. Calibrated using the masses as loading balance brand ohaus Pioneer™ type PA214. Deflection that occurs detected a strain by strain gage transducers mounted on the cantilever surface. Through electronic wheatstone bridge circuit, the characteristic equation obtained by measuring the mass of the prototype instrument that states the relationship between voltage, V in millivolts, and the mass, m in grams, is V = -3.36667 m + 38.49556. This research will also be carried out data acquisition system to a PC to be stored in a database.
