Abstract

The synthesis of ethyl vanillin derivative, 2-ethoxy-1-((3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl)oxy-4-((3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl)oxymethyl))benzene (5), is reported here. (5) was prepared from ethyl vanillin (1) with substitution of 3-methyl-2-butenyl group. The synthesized compound (5) was obtained in a good yield and purity, and was characterized by spectroscopic methods (NMR, MS, IR).
