N2 - The taekwondo scoring system is a crucial component in accessing and updating the scores accurately during the sports tournament. This paper describes the development of a simple yet portable wireless scoring system (WSS) for taekwondo combative competitions used by juries. WSS uses ESP-WROOM-32 devices and via wireless ESP-NOW protocol. The system consisted of one master device and three slave devices which allowed for score recording, and real-time updates based on input from the juries. The ESP-NOW protocol demonstrated its capability to facilitate efficient data exchange between the master and slave devices. This is to ensure that there are no significant delays in transmitting the data and without any packet loss. The button press detection mechanism on the slave devices was responsive and accurate, and the master device accurately incremented the respective scores according to the transmitted information. The system incorporated an output interface, such as an OLED screen, to display the scores in real time, allowing users or competition organizers to conveniently track and monitor the scores throughout the matches. Furthermore, the product is designed to be a cost-effective and user-friendly device, especially catering for small organizations or taekwondo club use. The finishing look is designed to be portable and handheld concept by the juries and coach. Moreover, this paper demonstrates a user acceptance test (UAT) at a real environment testing (taekwondo sparring session) of the WSS to obtain feedbacks by experienced coaches and juries.
