Abstract

Inhibitor is one of the components that are very important for the industrial world, especially for industries that use heavy metals. However, the use of inhibitors is limited, because it is toxic and not environmentally friendly. Organic inhibitors are the answer to this problem, besides being safe and environmentally friendly, organic inhibitors also have low prices. However, not an organic inhibitor, it has no disadvantages, organic inhibitors are not stable when used at normal average temperatures. This study aims to analyze the combination of Moringa leaf extract as an organic inhibitor of the corrosion rate in API 5L Grade B steel with variations in concentration and temperature. The trials conducted in this study include GC-MS, FTIR, Weightloss, Electrochemistry, SEM-EDX and AAS. From the weightloss test results obtained the lowest corrosion rate at a concentration of 2000ppm with an efficiency of 81.21% and the lowest corrosion rate at a temperature of 50oC with an efficiency of 81.25%. Through the results of the polarization test, this inhibitor inhibitor is a type of mixing inhibitor.
