Abstract

The multilevel buildings are vulnerable to the excitation forces such as winds and earthquakes. The analysis of vibration reduction in multilevel building is established in this study. The experimental and simulation method are conducted in laboratory scale. The multilevel structure model is design to be two-floor building model. The Tuned Liquid Column Damper (TLCD) is placed on first-floor of the building model and then it is placed on second-floor of the building model. The TLCD's mass ratio and its orifice cross-sectional area are varied. The experimental results correspond well to the simulation results. The TLCD's mass ratio does not provide significant difference, while the variation of orifice cross-sectional area provides significant differences.
